Los Balcones Over the Sea features a unique palafitte-style structure over the sea in Carenero Cay, in the paradisiac Bocas del Toro islands. It features a private jetty.
The air-conditioned rooms at the Los Balcones Over the Sea come with a cable TV, a fan and a private bathroom with hot water. Superior rooms also have a terrace with sea views.

Good clean hotel with friendly staff

Good clean hotel with nice owner who met us on arrival. They have their own boat pier, it’s convenient with bags. Our room looked freshly refurbished with good view from balcony, all was working, simple but clean. Buffet breakfast was included which was pretty good, and staff that cooked it was really friendly. There is a big island supermarket in 5 min walk, beach is in 15-20 min walk across the island, Bibi’s restaurant in 15 min walk. There is huge potential for this place to become great if improve some points and have their own restaurant/bar.

There could be some intermittent electricity cut offs on the island meaning no water in hotel as well, as there is no other source of power. Area around hotel could be dirty a bit as it’s near to local islanders that don’t care.

The term suite is not correct in my eyes. There was only a cupboard and no other storage space neither in the bathroom nor in the room.

Very nice hotel, clean, nice view on Marina

It is very loud at night due to music across the water from Colon. I thought being away from Colon would be quiet but it was actually louder. This is not their fault, but good to know in advance. There was no water for the entire time I was there. I now know this is an island issue however, I was told by others at different hotels that they were advised in advance and had the option to cancel. I was not told when I arrived and the owner's girlfriend was surprised to hear that I had no water at all, yet on checkout she lied and told me that she had warned me in advance. She was rude and lied to me on other matters and sent me the most unprofessional email I have yet to see. Nice place. Unfortunately noise and customer service from owners girlfriend made it a terrible place to stay. I wish I left earlier. Beware!

Wouldn’t stay there again.

The owners were incredibly nice

No running water, the bathrooms and rooms were dirty. No towels, no maid service, there was one sheet on the bed and when we checked in we had to wait for our bed to be made.

Excellent value for money

Hot water. The breakfast is excellent and the staff our friendly. The owners Gerry and Leslie are super nice and full of local knowledge. The cat Little B is very cute.

Mattress was a little too soft for us but that's a personal preference.

New owners have taken over so they have some things to work on including upkeep.

The breakfast was good. The service was good. There was a nice walk around the island. There were good places to lie on the beach and paddle board. It was a good location from the main town.

It was next to a bar that played super loud music till the early morning hours both nights we were there which kept everyone awake all night.

Awesome location, great dock and staff.

Great location on carenaro. Awesome dock to jump off into beautiful water. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The owners were amazing and even during a horrible drought made sure we had everything we needed.

Only thing is that the rooms could use some extra furniture to put your bags and stuff on.

Beautiful place to stay close to all of the islands in Bocas del Toro, extremely helpful staff!

Los Balcones was a great place to stay if you are exploring the bocas del toro islands. It was a two minute water taxi away from the main Island in bocas del toro. The owner was extremely helpful in informing us on places to visit on the islands nearby and even gave us money for a water taxi to get to and from town as we did not realize we couldn't use our costa rican currency in panama.

The breakfast definitely has some room for improvement, but it was serviceable and included with the room. Also I am a chef by trade, so I am hypercritical of food wherever I go.

The view is absolutely amazing.

The view is absolutely amazing. I suggest travellers spend a few extra dollars and rent the room with the best vista. Breakfast is ample, fresh fruit and yummy pancakes, eggs and coffee or tea. They have the cutest cat. Leslie and Gerry have recently taken over the business and are adding their personal touches, the place will even be better. Another big bonus is you can swim off the dock, use the kayaks or hangout in the social area. Highly recommend this Casa.

We had to leave. It will be great when they get the bar service operational.

Quiet clean place, convenient to everything

We had a great stay! Rooms were very basic but clean, air condition was very necessary and worked great. Views of water/bluff beach from balconies was nice. Breakfast was also basic, but did the trick each morning and the staff was friendly. Loved staying on Caraneros, much quieter and more relaxing than the main island. The boat taxis are so cheap and quick that it feels like you are in a little oasis in the center of town. Be sure to arrive by boat taxi ($1, 2 min from main island), the back way is confusing and closes at 8:30pm with no buzzer. Finically, owner is great. Clearly cares a lot about the space and guests and you can tell the hotel is constantly getting better. I’m ready to retire in Bocas :)

Rooms could use a bit more love, no pictures on walls and a chair would be nice.
